Good at: Turning strangers into friends: friend requests, private messages and games.
Watch out: Text only for now, no video chat.
Full disclosure: yo-yo! is our own site.
Good at: Interest matching and a karma system that rewards good behaviour.
Watch out: Many of the better features sit behind the paid tier.
Good at: The closest feel to old Omegle video roulette, with a big mobile audience.
Watch out: Moderation is strict and bans can be hard to appeal.
Good at: The original webcam roulette, still running.
Watch out: Quality of conversation varies wildly; camera required.
Good at: Fast, TikTok-style video intros for a younger crowd.
Watch out: Timed calls make longer conversations awkward.
If you want video roulette
Chatroulette and OmeTV are the closest to the old Omegle experience. Expect a camera to be required and conversations to be short.
If you want to type, not talk
Text chat is calmer, works on any connection, and doesn't ask you to be camera-ready. Emerald Chat and yo-yo! both do it well.
If you want the chat to lead somewhere
Most random chat sites lose the person the moment you press Next. yo-yo! lets you send a friend request mid-chat, keep talking in your inbox, play games together, and meet the same crowd again in public rooms.
Free, 18+ and moderated. Start as a guest with a random name, or make an account to keep the people you meet.
What are the best sites like Omegle in 2026?
For video, Chatroulette, OmeTV and Emerald Chat are the closest replacements. For text chat where conversations can carry on afterwards, yo-yo! is built for that: you can add the people you click with and keep talking.
Are there sites like Omegle with no account?
Yes. Chatroulette works without an account, and yo-yo! has a guest mode that gives you a random name and drops you straight into a chat.
Which Omegle alternative is safest?
Look for 18+ rules, per-chat Report and Block, and a real moderation queue. yo-yo! has all three, and reports arrive with the conversation attached.
Is there a free site like Omegle?
Yes. yo-yo! is free for random chats, public rooms, private messages and games. Most alternatives are free with an optional paid tier.
